FAQ’s

WHERE WILL MY SHOOT TAKE PLACE?

Your session will take place at our gorgeous 2500 sq ft. New York loft style studio!

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO BOOK MY SESSION

In order to book your session we require  50% of your session fee  as a nonrefundable retainer to book your spot. You can call us at 510-698-1517 to book with a credit card over the phone.

WHO WILL MY PHOTOGRAPHER BE?

We can’t guarantee who you will have the day of your shoot BUT we guarantee that it will be one of our fantastic FEMALE staff members who are all trained by the owner Denise Birdsong. If you have 3 or more productions or our Madame Couture Collection you will be shooting with Kate Gardner one of our principal photographers, if you have our Editorial Collection you will be shooting with Denise Birdsong the owner, Principal Photographer and creative director of Modern Love.

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN OUTFITS?

Yes! We recommend bringing in a bra and panty set in black with thigh high stockings, garter belt and heels. We have lots more outfit recommendations but those are the basics! We do have wardrobe pieces available for a rental fee of $85. If you are doing a wardrobe rental you must bring in your own underwear to wear under the pieces and also bring in high heels as we do not provide shoes in wardrobe rental. If you have more than 3 productions booked we offer complimentary use of wardrobe! Score!

CAN I PURCHASE MORE IMAGES THAN THE ONES IN MY PRODUCTION(S)

Absolutely! After your session you will get to view your images from your session and at thtat time you may add on additional images, albums or products.

CAN I HAVE A FRIEND COME WITH ME?

Yes and no. If you are feeling nervous and would like to bring a friend for support you may do so but they will need to wait in the lobby while you are in your shoot. Only you and the Modern Love Staff members are allowed in the shooting area while your session is in progress.

DO YOU POST MY IMAGES ONLINE?

We never post anything without your permission and a signed model release. We know boudoir is private in nature and we would never put up anything without your consent. All the images you see online are ones our clients have graciously allowed us to use.

WHAT IS THE TURN AROUND TIME FOR IMAGES AND ALBUMS

Your CD of images will be available 2 weeks after you pick them out. Albums can take up to 4 weeks to be finalized.

DO YOU DO COUPLES SHOOTS?

Yes we do! We require 4 productions be booked in order for a couples session as they are more detailed in posing.

DO YOU DO NUDE SESSIONS?

Yes we do! We do keep them very tasteful and classic and SUPER sexy!

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELATION POLICY

In order not to forfeit your retainer fee we require a 5 day notice if you can’t make your appointment. If you let us know 5 days prior to your session your retainer is good for an alternate date. If you cancel your shoot less than 5 days before your shoot there will be a $75 rescheduling fee due to rebook.

I’M NERVOUS AND SCARED AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO BE SEXY! WHAT DO I DO?

We know nerves are a big part of your shoot… and that is totally normal! We want you to take a big breathe and relax because you are in EXCELLENT hands. We tell all of our clients that it isn’t your job to take a good picture… it is ours. We are going to coach you, guide you, pose you for beautiful, emotive and evocative images that will take your breath away.

I WORK DURING THE DAY, CAN I DO AN EVENING BOUDOIR SHOOT?

A couple times a month we offer “after dark” sessions in the evenings. These sessions start at 6pm which means hair and makeup styling would begin around 5pm. After dark sessions do not have same day viewings included. You will need to arrange a time to come back into the studio to view your images.

WHAT TIMES DO YOU TYPICALLY BOOK SHOOTS?

Our first session of the day begins at 11:30am on weekdays and on Saturdays 9:00am. If you have added hair and makeup services onto your session you will arrive 1 hour prior to your shoot time. Start times depend on how many productions you book and what our schedule is like for the day. We shoot throughout the entire day and our last shoot of the day begins at 4pm in order to be done with your photo viewing by our closing hour of 7pm.

DO YOU HAVE WEEKEND AVAILABILITY?

Yes we do! We are open for sessions on Saturdays when we are not shooting weddings and select Sundays.

DO YOU SHOOT GIRLS WITH CURVES?

Absolutely! Boudoir is for everyone. We specialize in posing women of all shapes and sizes.

WILL YOU AIRBRUSH AND EDIT MY PHOTOS?

Yes! After you have made your selections for your images our editor will airbrush and remove blemishes. If you require additional editing or have special requests there may be an additional fee and is based off of the type of edit.

IS IT OK TO TAN BEFORE MY SHOOT?

We highly recommend NOT tanning before your boudoir shoot. It is always VERY orange in the images, can cause tan lines, orange palms, heels and other odd marking on the body and can rub off on clothing and furniture. If you choose to tan we can not be responsible for tan lines in images which may result in additional editing needed. Additional charges for editing lines may be required.

DOES HAIR AND MAKEUP COME IN MY SESSION?

Our Production sessions do not come with hair and makeup included. You can absolutely add it on for $125. We highly recommend pampering yourself and indulging in this experience. Boudoir makeup should be heavier than you would normally wear and our artists are used to knowing how much to put on for our lighting and sets. The camera wipes away about 50% of makeup you put on so it’s really important to not just wear makeup but wear it well!

HOW LONG WILL MY SHOOT LAST?

That depends on how many productions you have in your session. It can be anywhere from 3 hours if you have 1 productions or up to 8 hours if you have 3 productions or one of our Couture Collections.
